IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute – Surface Protector of the Year 2026

Through the Surface Protector of the Year award, Ytskyddsakademien and its partners aim to recognise innovative individuals or institutes whose work spreads knowledge about the environmental benefits of renovation and surface protection of concrete and metal, thereby increasing understanding of this important work.

This year's recipient is IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.

The jury's motivation reads:

"IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute has through its calculations and studies been able to demonstrate that it is both economically and environmentally sustainable to preserve and renovate existing buildings rather than building new ones. Thanks to this work, working groups have been started throughout Sweden and in this way this important knowledge is now being conveyed to a multitude of people and companies across Sweden."

A clear example of how research and facts can contribute to more sustainable decisions in the construction and property sector.

Congratulations on a well-deserved award! 💚
